We had whistles. They had guns. By Julie Dobbins

"Renee Good was killed for peacefully standing for her immigrant neighbors. I've been metabolizing my grief around the collective American moment we're in, trying to understand how things can be so far gone. And yet, I also have hope that as we continue to peacefully resist, Americans who are still in denial will wake up and our resistance, shown through love and care for each other, will prevail. "

Strife by Daniel Behlmann

"I call this piece Strife. I painted this about a year into working in the immigration field. Many people arrive in the United States with high expectations. The tumultuous next couple of months make them realize it’s not what they were told by media, stories, or even the international organizations who brought them here. The transition is isolating and frustrating. Nothing is what it seems."
